DANCE AFRICA 2016

This was my third time attending the DANCE AFRICA FESTIVAL & BAZAAR. Once again, it did not disappointed. I enjoyed it so much I attended 2 days in a row. The Festival was held Downtown Brooklyn, where part of Ashland Place and Lafayette ave were shut to accommodate the tents and visitors of the festival. Sponsored by BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), the festival became a sensation decades ago; and even in theses days where Downtown Brooklyn (and most part of Brooklyn) is being transformed into a second Manhattan, the place was well set around the construction areas. This year was the 39th anniversary of the Festival and Senegal was the featured country. It was filled with different vendors selling either food, different African and Caribbean arts and also clothing (I was able to purchase my first Dashiki).

Next year will be 40 years the Festival will celebrate. I know they will do something even bigger, maybe what you will see here will encourage you to come to the next one.

I definitely enjoyed myself with my cousin who came with me. I did miss the opening dance ceremony and certain important highlights of the Bazaar Festival but I hope it will encourage you to come next year and the year beyond, as long as the City of New York will let us vibing in the different African Sounds. I will come back again next year!!

Bless,

SACHIKA TWINS @ STYLE LA FASHION WEEK

The new Collection “Fearlessly Sensual” by SACHIKA was held last month, October 14th 2013 in Los Angeles. It was presented by AVITA during STYLE FASHION WEEK. I was not able to attend this time, but I will share with you some of their new pieces.

To-Tam & To-Nya known as The Sachika Twins have been blowing up the fashion scene for a few years now, and every time they are showcasing a new collection, their unique dresses & outfits becomes in high demand by celebrities and individuals. SACHIKA is “For the Modern Woman”, and it represents the Strong Independent Woman who knows what she wants. For this Show, they are also revamping the man’s collection TUXX by SACHIKA which is for the busy man on the go, who is adventurous, simple and confident.

The Spring/Summer 2014 SACHIKA FASHION SHOW  had a dominatrix eletro-funk-sensual feeling. The clothes are very sexy & reveals some kinkiness, but at the same time, it keeps that classy touch, enough  for the person who exude confidence to wear it everywhere and make a statement. It is for the ladies (or men) who wants something out of the ordinary. The mix of different fabrics are well put together and it shows in the quality of the different designs that gives it that one of a kind ensemble. After seeing some of the outfits here, I would suggest to visit their website and see their collection and order because it will sell out fast just like the past collections.

Sachika VS Lanvin NYFW Edition

Today is the Start of the New York Fashion Week: FASHION NIGHT OUT!! Everything about Fashion is Happening right now in the City. Just yesterday, I was looking at The View while doing my laundry. And I fell into Kim Kardashian segment where she was talking about her life and all.

The red really caught my attention because it is my favorite color. But what REALLY CAUGHT MY ATTENTION was the dress that looked like something I wore last year during Fashion Week.

Now I am not an expert in fashion, but the style to me is the EXACT SAME THING!! I love this shape of dress because it was designed for curvy women, with lots of Hips. So I can understand why Kim Kardashian would fell in love with it!

You be the judge by looking at the pictures!!

I choose this dress after seeing it on Caroline Manzo from the REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW JERSEY at the SACHIKA NYFW runway in September 2010.

DANCING AGAIN!!!

For the past 3 weeks, I had doctors appointments and all in Montreal, Canada. I had a great time reflecting about my life, what I want next and also about refocusing on what is really important for me, and NOT what have been asked OF me.

I started going back to my first love, which is dancing. Dancing has been a part of my life for as long as I was able to walk. After my surgery I was focusing on just training which is still very hard on me. I still don`t know why I stopped dancing (biggest mistake to stop doing something that you love). I went to take some classes on Mont-Royal for the time I was here, and I had the greatest time. It is natural exercices, its fun and it is dancing!!

Here I am after my last class. Fibroids or not, I will continue to do me!! 🙂
